Do I Need Air Conditioning Replacement or Repair?

Air conditioning replacement or repair? That is the question. With air conditioning units, it can sometimes be difficult to assess their condition and it can also be difficult to know when it is time to replace or time for air conditioning repair. Many clients will ask us whether or not it is worth it to repair their AC unit or to replace it. Here is our advice:

Look at your options

The older the air conditioner is, the more likely it is to have problems such as reduced performance, costly repairs, and be less energy efficient. If you have an older unit that is nearing its fifteen years of life expectancy, then it may be worth your while to simply purchase a new unit now.

If your unit is in constant need of repair, this can also be a sign that it is time to get a new unit. High-energy bills and mix-matched parts can also be signs that you are in need of a new unit.

Compare Costs of Air Conditioning Replacement or Repair

Another option is to compare costs. How much more would it be to purchase a unit? If you would not have to pay much more to purchase a brand new unit then it may not be worth fixing. Ultimately, the decision is up to you and weighing the costs is the only way that you will come to a conclusive answer.
