Should I get a heat pump or a furnace in Arizona?
Heat pumps are well-suited to the warm Arizona climate. As long as the outdoor temperature stays above freezing, a heat pump will consume electricity more efficiently than a furnace. This is a big plus for Arizona homeowners who don’t have natural gas lines.
Furnaces are viable as well. If you already have a functional air conditioner, it might be more economical to install a furnace. The air comes out nice and hot, warming your home faster than a heat pump can.
If you’re due for a new HVAC system, Penguin Air can help you make the right choice. We service virtually every make and model of furnace and heat pump, so no matter what you decide, we have you covered!
How often do I need to change my HVAC filter?
Low- to mid-efficiency air filters should be checked every one to three months and changed once they appear clogged. High-efficiency filters may last longer than this. Then, some filters are washable, so you can rinse and reuse them.
How often should I service my HVAC system?
What should I use to clear my drains?
Skip the chemical drain cleaner and reach for a plunger or plumbing auger instead. When these aren’t enough, call Penguin Air for drain cleaning services.
How can I stop my toilet from overflowing?
If your toilet is overflowing right now, remove the lid from the tank, reach inside, and lift the fill valve or float to stop the water from refilling. Then, turn off the water behind the toilet until you have it repaired. Repeatedly overflowing toilets may be caused by a clogged drainpipe or tree root intrusion, both of which require help from a professional plumber.
Why isn’t my water heater working?
A water heater may stop working for many reasons, including:
- Tripped breaker
- Defective heating element
- Sediment buildup
- Faulty thermostat or thermal switch
Penguin Air can help you troubleshoot the problem with your water heater and get it working again as soon as possible.
What is a surge protector? Should I get one?
Point-of-use surge protectors safeguard computers and other sensitive electronics, but what about your kitchen appliances and HVAC equipment? A whole-house surge protector hardwired to your electrical box protects against voltage spikes and excess currents. We recommend installing one to preserve the life of your appliances and electronics.
Why does my outlet smell like it’s burning?
No one wants odd smells in their home. A burning odor coming from an outlet could signal a dangerous arcing situation causing the wires to overheat. Turn off power to the outlet at your electrical box and call our Phoenix electricians today.
Why is my circuit breaker tripping?
The most common reasons for a circuit breaker to trip include overloaded circuits, short circuits, and ground faults. No matter the cause, a repeatedly tripping circuit breaker should be repaired as soon as possible to avoid damaging the electrical system.
